Biography: | Frank R. Stockton (1834-1902) was a Philadelphia novelist who first wrote stories for children, with his whimsical tales like The Bee Man of Orn (1887). Using the humor of the absurd that made his stories so successful, Stockton also wrote extremely popular adult fables such as The Lady or the Tiger (1884). His later work turned humor to satire, with romance send-ups like Kate Bonnet (1902). |
