Biography: | Claude Prosper Jolyot de Crébillon (1707-1777) was a French novelist. Son of a famous tragedy writer, he started his own literary career writing plays for the city's Italian Theatre. Some of his novels were controversial, such as Le Sopha (1742) which forced his exile from Paris. Ironically, he worked later in life as a royal censor. |
