THE LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP), website: www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/liheap. A federally funded program to help eligible low-income households meet their heating and/or cooling needs. Call your local CAC office or public utility service for information or go to website for contact in your state.

HOME WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE. Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance (Wx) Program is the nation's largest residential energy efficiency program. Its mission is to insulate the dwellings of low-income persons, particularly the elderly, persons with disabilities, families with children, high residential energy users, and households with a high energy burden, in order to conserve needed energy, and to aid those persons least able to afford higher utility costs. Contact your local CAC agency or Department of Human Services for further information.
