Is Online Dating the Way to Go?

Perhaps jumping into online dating is a bit daunting, as many people tend to believe. The question that often comes to haunt us is: Is online dating a reliable option for forming relationships? Is the risk worth taking? The answer is: most probably, yes. Because, if properly used, its benefits far outweigh its drawbacks. And that's why it is worth trying. If not anything else, you can at least widen your social circle and meet some interesting people. And who knows you could even find here your dream girl/boy. And maybe remember how it all started online when you would pass through the stages of 'mehndi,' 'baraat,' and 'nikkah!' Sounds like a fantasy? Not at all.

Online dating services are expanding daily. More than 100 million people, many of them Muslim, are now using them and the number keeps increasing. The concerns over if online matchmaking was sanctioned under the tenets of Islamic law, which prohibits dating, are gradually disappearing. A great number of Muslims are now seeking other Muslims online, with the main objective of arranging a traditional marriage.

Internet has now taken the place of traditional matchmakers. As Muslim families have spread to different parts of the world, it has become increasingly difficult for individuals to find people they know and trust. For the new generation of Muslims in Europe or the United States, the local field of prospective spouses has shrunk considerably. As a result, online communication is now the latest tool in the oldest practice of the Islamic faith.
