Chapter 4

It's now time to clear some misconceptions and dispel some common myths about online dating. Some people, especially the older lot, still believe there is some irremovable stigma attached to it. In their closed mindset, a person must be an odd-ball, pervert, or completely unacceptable in the real world if he/she has taken to using an online dating service. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Online dating/matrimony witnessed a boom in the last few years. More than 40 million people all over the world are now busy dating online. These same people, however, also think that Internet dating is not risk-free. It certainly has its risks, but they are quite avoidable if a person uses a bit of common sense. The type of common sense that tells you not to give your personal information to any stranger you meet on the street.

If we can now use the Internet in almost every aspect of our lives, why not use it find a friend or soul mate in our personal lives? Meeting people broadens our horizons and enriches our lives. The world has become cutely smaller thanks to the Internet. A man in Lahore can communicate with a woman in Kuala Lumpur as if he is talking to the girl next door.
