Chapter 18 - Page 1 of 2

Union City, New Jersey, December, 2077, Tuesday…

In the hour before dawn five men with ski masks approached the chemical storage facility in New Jersey close to the I95 and I80 interchange. Unlike the streams of traffic going back and forth across the George Washington Bridge, they had come from the west on I80. They had driven a long distance from a barn in Pennsylvania where they met and loaded up a stolen van with C4 plastic explosive and weapons, including H & K 53's and grenades.

The sleepy security guards were easily overpowered and left tied up with duct tape. The terrorists headed straight for the huge tank containing the chlorine.

Their plan was simple: A few charges of C4 would cause huge rents in the tank, releasing the liquid chlorine. It would turn into poisonous gas and waft across the Hudson where potentially ten million workers in New York City would succumb to it. In one blow Bravo Islam would revenge a good number of fallen martyrs in the Middle East.

Later people would wonder about those making up the little group. Every one of them was born in the US. Every one of them had been converted to the cause by propaganda on the internet.

Curt Simmons watched the green figures on his screen. The IR technology gave clear enough images to allow them to count their foes. DHS had ten agents at the plant. More than enough.
