A Ghostly Trio

It was 2:30 in the morning and the house was quiet. Victoria and Brendan had gone to bed around midnight after they were sure Shannon could safely go to sleep without ending up in a coma. Shannon was tossing and turning in her bed; she couldn't find a comfortable spot no matter how hard she tried. On nights like these she liked to go downstairs with a fluffy fleece blanket and sleep on the large over-stuffed sofa in their family room.

Shannon liked the family room because it was the coziest room in the house. Her mother had spent a lot of time decorating in here in an effort to create a welcoming room for her special clients. The chairs were all over stuffed and upholstered with an old-fashioned blue, turquoise and green paisley print material. The tables were white washed and there were several white bookcases lining the walls, chock-full of antique books. The windows in the room had white lace curtains hanging in them and the windows themselves had small blue and green glass gazing balls hanging in them. The room had a summer cottage feeling to it, like her grandmother's home in the country that she stayed at when she was very young.

Shannon slowly made her way down the front staircase and narrowly avoided tripping over her fleece blanket that she was dragging behind her. The faint glow of the streetlights around the square eerily illuminated the rooms at the front her home.
