"This seems rather precipitous," said Brian. "I'm not sure this is a wise decision, Paul."

"Believe me, it's -" A knock on the conference room door interrupted him. Church frowned. He had left strict orders that they were not to be interrupted. "Brian, see who it is. And tell them to get lost."

Brian, the closest to the door, got up and opened it slightly. A heated exchange of words with someone ensued, and then the door was thrust open. Five men came in, guns drawn.

"What is the meaning of this?" asked Linda Adams. "Who are you people?"

The man closest to her flashed a badge which she could read clearly.

"FBI, m'am. We are here to arrest Paul Church and Linda Adams."

"Absurd!" exclaimed Church. "I'll not be a part of this travesty."

Handcuffs were brought out.

"I assure you, sir, you have no choice. Handcuff him and Ms Adams, please. Let's go."

"I'll call the corporate lawyers," Brian told them as they were led out, astonished by this turn of events.

The FBI agents led the CEO and CFO of Dalton Biomedicine towards the elevator. They were only twenty feet from it when the elevator doors opened and Sweeney's SWAT team poured out.

The battle that took place reminded Brian of some old western films that he had seen. Four of the SWAT team perished and all five FBI agents. Paul Church and Linda Adams along with two from the conference room were also dead. Brian and the rest lived to tell the story, although he took a bullet that shattered his jaw. Lt. Greg Anderson and the rest of his team fled down the stairs.
