Chapter 15 - Page 2 of 5

Lexington Park, Maryland, Tuesday…

"Yeah, but the data has been on crime suspects and terrorists. I can't recall getting involved with the feds before."

"Just cool it. And by all means, don't talk about it. By the way, if your life was in danger, and you had some special information, where might you put it?"

"What they usually do in the mystery novels is put it in a safe deposit box and send a letter to their lawyer with the code and power-of-attorney to open it in case you're found dead. Unfortunately, after Goldman versus US, the feds don't have to respect attorney-client privilege after you're dead, so they can raid the box themselves. If they don't beat the attorney to the box, Popov versus US allows the feds to subpoena it from the attorney - all the originals and copies. I would take another tact."

Jay was getting tired of the legal mumbo-jumbo. GeeBee was also an amateur lawyer and well read on the latest Supreme Court decisions, though he wasn't helping much, not this early in the morning.

"I'll invent something. Thanks for the info."

"Is your life in danger? Quit while you're ahead, senorita."

"I'm not sure. It could be nothing, yet something smells fishy down here and it isn't last week's leftover crabs."

"Well, if you ever need a place to hide, remember where we all went that Fourth of July. Take care."
