What if they know how to get in, he thought as he heard the soldiers in the hallway. No, he reasoned, Huskus would want to keep his little escape route secret. As he studied the room, he spied a chair against the wall.
"Secret escape door number 2."
Tiptoeing to the chair, Jess thought it looked harmless enough until he got right up on it. The top part of the chair had carved in it another likeness of Huskus' face. The arms of the chair ended in wooden hands with realistic fingers at the end of them. Upon closer inspection, Jess noticed the same type shallow recess in the mouth of the carving and reached for it, but something told him to stop. "If someone were smart enough to find the first entrance, I don't think Huskus would make it as easy on them the second time."
Cautiously standing to one side of the chair, Jess reached over the top of it, and as he suspected, he found another lever. When he pulled it, blades popped out of the wall and ripped through the back of the chair. If Jess had sat in the chair and pulled the lever, the blades would have skewered him. The blades receded into the walls, and only then, did Jess sit in the chair and begin to search it. Under its arms, he searched and found a button, pushed it, and chair and wall turned slowly around.
