Chapter 5 - Page 2 of 9

His body language displayed his every emotion, she noticed. He would suck at poker. She gave some thought to suckering him into a quick game that evening. She wouldn't mind sharing some of the wealth he possessed, and she was sure she could beat his readable face. "What's so funny?" He looked puzzled at her laughter and squinted at her while he gasped at the wide, swinging turn she took without slowing down. "Nothin'." Karen continued to drive, eyes straight ahead, a smile on her lips, and visions of Mr. Lousy-poker-face, naked, holding a loosing hand of strip poker. "Nothing at all, dear." She couldn't control the giddiness at her thoughts, or the hungry grin. Isaiah sat back in his seat. His eyes trained on the road as if his determination could keep them from veering off, and plunging to their deaths in a roadside ditch. She laughed out loud at his determined look. "Would you relax," she said, as she looked him up and down trying to keep the silly grin off her face. He sat there completely unaware of her thoughts. Thank God, she said to herself. He was so grim looking with his features darkened by fear. But she wasn't paying any attention to that. She was still envisioning him, as he sat alongside her, naked. That was a beautiful sight. His broad shoulders glistened in the summer heat. His long blond hair billowed in the breeze from the open window. His long tan arms, flexed as his hands clenched the door, and seat. His firm, taunt belly a hard knot of fear, rippling as the smooth muscles moved. Calm yourself, girl, she scolded. She continued to smile. The hard thighs beneath the heavy jeans he wore beckoned her. She could picture them, smooth and firm. His taunt calf muscles, she had felt earlier that day, were alluring. Suddenly she snapped out of her dream world as the car swerved. "Keep your eyes on the road," Isaiah said through clenched teeth. With an angry glance in her direction as she grabbed the wheel tighter and regained her composure, he impaled her with his look. "Sorry." Karen shrugged her shoulders and giggled, "Got sidetracked." "Uh huh." Karen looked at him again, and then back at the road when he pointed vigorously out the windshield.
