Chapter 8 - Page 1 of 14

Even the air was different. The sun still glistened the same as it had the day before, the bus that waited at the hotel entrance purred with the same steady growl it had everyday for the past two weeks, but Karen could feel the change; and she knew Isaiah could too. Sitting in the now familiar spot as the bus began to move, Izzy‟s arm lazily flung across her shoulders, she leaned back into him. She let her head fall back against his chest, feeling the now familiar pounding of his heartbeat. Karen felt her seat shake as Sticks beat a steady rhythm at its back, as Annette and Bobby walked down the aisle on their way to the stereo not even looking in her direction as they shouted out their suggestions for the music being loaded. "It‟s not that far to the airport!" Izzy shouted playfully over his shoulder when the fifth disk had been chosen. Karen smiled, noticing with particular glee, that her seatmate‟s hands were not clenched in their usual position on the arms of the chair or fisted tightly in his lap. On the plane it was a different story, the gigantic 747 sat on the strip waiting for its passengers to board and its belly to be filled with the luggage and equipment that traveled with the band. A fresh coat of paint on its side bore the same black background with the red streak bearing the name "Izzy High‟ emblazoned inside. In its confines, amidst the friendly faces and laughing crew, Isaiah sat with terror on his face when the bird began its run down the concrete to lift into the air.
