Small Town USA The Rats Below

The speaker was presenting a dull series of slides on a rather uninteresting topic, except perhaps to the few chemical safety specialists in the room. Sean pretended to concentrate on the slides and the monotonous voice of the less-than enthusiastic speaker, but he kept an eye on Forsythe. Sean was wearing the "Cyclops eye", the new high-tech gadget Gutierrez had sent in the briefcase.

The device consisted of a camera "eye" disguised as a button in the middle of his cap. The eye was wired through a device that resembled a hearing aid. The images captured by the "eye" were transmitted directly to a small pocket computer with a wireless connection to the Internet. The encrypted images were sent to the FBI lab in real time, so that other agents could see and analyze exactly what Sean was seeing. The device could also store images for later viewing.

Sean looked awkward, pretending to type on the tiny keyboard with his large hands. In a small window on the screen he was glancing at the images on Forsythe's screen, which he was capturing with the tiny camera. Suddenly, his eyes fixed on diagrams that were displayed on Forsythe's computer screen. He could make out a chemical storage vessel, piping and electronics like the control panels he had seen on his previous investigation at the nuclear manufacturing facility in Alaska.

Sean was also in direct communication with the FBI agent in the lab via a keyboard chat, so he typed: "Did you see that, what do you make of it?"
