Chapter 11 - Page 1 of 4

Jeff Silvers was shaken up.

"Not again," he moaned, shaking his head in disbelief.

He had just gotten word that Chaucer Romney 's car had been found abandoned in the parking lot of what used to be a shopping center and his body stuffed in the trunk.

Someone had seen the car earlier that morning and called the police to have it towed away. As it was being hooked up to the back of the truck, the trunk popped open and his body was discovered.

Silvers was watching the story unfold on the noon news from his office at the ball park.

"The third member of the Combers baseball team was found murdered earlier this morning, began reporter Kristie Devon. The victim was 29 year old Chaucer Romney. Romney was found stuffed in the trunk of his car with an electrical cord tied around his neck and a foot and hand chopped off. His car was found in the parking lot of the old Green Star Grocery Store. As the car was being hooked up to the tow truck, the trunk popped open and that's when his body was found. Detective Ivory Denelle will have more information as it becomes available."

Ralph St. Johns and Mark Kingston were watching with Silvers.

"What have the police been telling you"? demanded St. Johns, fouling the office air by lighting up a foul smelling cigar.

"Everything they know and that isn't much," admitted Silvers.
