Chapter 4

"When I was young," Victoria began slowly, "Things seemed to happen all of the time like glasses breaking, mirrors cracking and light bulbs popping when I was around. Things started getting really scary when I was using the microwave and it caught fire. Sparks were shooting everywhere; I was afraid I would catch the house, or myself, on fire. That is when I started avoiding appliances, even telephones because they would melt when I used them. My parents thought we had a ghost in the house because there was no other explanation for the strange events. My father called in an electrician to see if we had a short or an overload on the wires in the house. The electrician couldn't find anything wrong with the wiring. Of course we're talking about this very house. As you know, there haven't been any of these odd occurrences since you've lived here, but they were pretty common when I was your age.

My mother finally took me to see a child psychologist, Dr. Anne Marlow. She suspected that I might have been causing the strange occurrences in the house. I had told her about the awful visions I had, including one similar to yours. I used to see a little girl in this room when I was about twelve years old. She would stand near my bed and just stare at me. I was really frightened out of my wits, but I couldn't seem to move when that little girl was around. It was like I was glued to the bed.
