This was a fun short read, but was far from a romance and more of a mystery. I'm assuming it was aimed at younger readers or written by a young adult because of the situations that arose in the story. Despite the fact that the main plot was incredibly predictable, the story itself was suspenseful to a degree. It's sort of like the Wicker man meets The Village with a splash of Tuck everlasting thrown in. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of closure at the end.
