Halloween Night

Halloween Night On Halloween night, we planned a surprised party for my mother's 46th birthday. I invited her to go to the movies with me. During our absence, Edwith, Sherley, and Giani decorated the house. We invited some close friends to the party, provided they wore masks.

When we got home, my mother was surprised to see the outside of the house decorated and the inside of house dark. I let her step ahead to open the door. As she tried to open the door, the door opened itself. I smiled slyly and Giani howled from inside. Then we all yelled, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!"

The lights turned on. At the doorstep, Garvey stood with a smile and a bunch of flowers.

"Happy birthday!"

"It's time to party!" Giani yelled his throat out among the crowd.

Music played. I danced with Peggy. My mother, of course, danced with Garvey. Jack danced with Joan, a new girl who he met the night of the party.

Sherley danced with a skinny, unmasked, ugly young man around her age. I presumed he was her boyfriend. And Edwith danced with Mike, who was already drunk.

Reggie was somewhere among the crowd, and Patrick stood in a corner drinking his beer. Giani bobbed his head to the music.

Sophie, Peggy's friend, went to Giani.

"Do you wanna dance or something?"

"Me?" Giani looked around to make sure that Sophie was addressing him.

"Why not?"

She grabbed his hand, and they walked to the dance floor next to Sherley and her boyfriend.

"Does your boyfriend wear a mask?" Giani jokingly asked Sherley, whose boyfriend visibly now wore a mask.

"Yes, but you don't." She stepped on his foot. Giani grimaced at her, but she disregarded him.

I watched my mother and Garvey dance amorously.

"I'm so looking forward to seeing Carter in Paris," she exhaled.

"Oh, Garvey. I'll be so proud."

"Chriscile, I'd like to be there with you. Ever since I met you, I feel proud when I am around you," he gently kissed her lips. It was a pre-emptive kiss. "All the bad moments that had happened in my life.

I don't think of them anymore. Not as much. Because I think of you all day... Chriscile, I love you. You don't have to say anything right now."

"Garvey- "

"I also want to go to Paris with you. I already planned everything.

Please let me go with you," he told her.

"Garvey, I have to think about it. And I have to talk to my children about it first ."

Garvey nodded in agreement. "I have time," he replied.

Meanwhile, I observed Giani and Sophie gesturing to each other.

I became a detective, observing everyone in the crowd.

"I'm Sophie. I came with Peggy," she introduced herself to Giani.

"Cool," said Giani, who was shy when he was around women.

"So...who are you then?" she asked him.

"Oh! I'm Giani."
