Chapter 13 - Page 2 of 3

Life Is Not Over Yet

Peter felt guilty. He hugged Claudia tightly and kissed her hair.

"Don't cry! Don't cry! I'm sorry." He looked up, then closed his eyes.

Prison I pressed my face against the wall of the door in the dark cell room.

You mercilessly ruined my life. But I won't give up. Not till you take me, too! Damn you! I cussed at death and threw some shadow punches. I looked for death in my sleep at night and in my music when I played violin. I forbid him or her to take my life, but he or she laughed at me, hidden somewhere near me or around me. I stood in the middle of the room and played a song to vanquish my fury.

Chriscile's Bedroom The neighborhood was very quiet, and it was raining softly.

The picture of the old lady giving birth to a snake could be seen in the dark on the piano. Sherley entered my mother's bedroom. She turned on the light and approached the window, while touching a key of the piano. She stood in front of the window, watching the rain fall.

She thought of seeing her mother's image smiling at her in the rain.

Edwith came in. She walked behind Sherley and hugged her.

Sherley was on the verge of tears.

"We've got nothing left," she whispered.

"Of course we do. Life isn't over yet. Stop crying."

"I miss Mother and wish I could tell Giani how much I loved him." She wiped her tears with the tail of her sweater.
