Life Is Not Over Yet

Rainy Night Peggy, seven months pregnant, walked in the rain on the sidewalk, headphones blaring in her ears. She sat down on a bench at the bus station, getting out of breath. She held her stomach, feeling cramping.

She moaned and fell down on the ground. She was having labor pain.

Another woman, on her way to the bus stop, came to her and yelled for help. "Oh, Lord! Dear! Somebody help!"

Hospital In the waiting room, light tears rolled down Claudia's cheeks. Peter entered, agitated, and approached her.

"Claudia, what happened?"

Claudia turned away from him.

"It's Peggy. They don't know if she'll make it," she barely answered him.

A female doctor entered somberly.

"Are you the parents?"

"Yes." Peter jumped to respond.

"We were able to save her baby. It's a girl. We're going to need to observe her for a while. There may be some brain damage." She hesitated.

"And my Peggy, doctor, what about Peggy?" an emotional Claudia asked.

The doctor took a deep breath before answering.

"We won't know for a while. It could go either way."

Claudia wiped a few light tears.

"But she's going to live, Doctor. Right? My Peggy is- "

"Like I said, we don't know yet. But we'll do all we can."

Peter, with a sob, took Claudia into his arms as she broke into frantic sobs. She beat his chest with her fists.

"No! No! Bastard! It's your fault! My baby, my baby, my baby, oh Peggy."

Peter felt guilty. He hugged Claudia tightly and kissed her hair.

"Don't cry! Don't cry! I'm sorry." He looked up, then closed his eyes.

Prison I pressed my face against the wall of the door in the dark cell room.

You mercilessly ruined my life. But I won't give up. Not till you take me, too! Damn you! I cussed at death and threw some shadow punches. I looked for death in my sleep at night and in my music when I played violin. I forbid him or her to take my life, but he or she laughed at me, hidden somewhere near me or around me. I stood in the middle of the room and played a song to vanquish my fury.

Chriscile's Bedroom The neighborhood was very quiet, and it was raining softly.

The picture of the old lady giving birth to a snake could be seen in the dark on the piano. Sherley entered my mother's bedroom. She turned on the light and approached the window, while touching a key of the piano. She stood in front of the window, watching the rain fall.

She thought of seeing her mother's image smiling at her in the rain.

Edwith came in. She walked behind Sherley and hugged her.

Sherley was on the verge of tears.

"We've got nothing left," she whispered.

"Of course we do. Life isn't over yet. Stop crying."
