Chapter 9 - Page 2 of 3

Mona Lisa

"There's more," said Will, pointing.

Kate didn't know what he was pointing to, or what he meant. She hadn't really looked at the classroom that hard. So, Kate looked. The lady sitting at the art table in the corner looked very familiar. But, she couldn't place where she knew her from.

"Please, I do not know what we are doing here, but can you try and help us?" the lady said.

Kate felt confused. Now she knew who the sitting lady looked like - Mona Lisa. A real Mona Lisa was sitting there in her seat, smoothing the wrinkles in her long dress and asking for help. She couldn't help but stare. This was a joke. This couldn't be real. Maybe it was a dream. Her thoughts were moving so fast she couldn't keep up with them.

"You look like," she started, then never finished her sentence. "No, I'm sorry. I must have hit my head or something." She turned to Will. "This isn't real, is it?"

Will looked just as confused as Kate felt. "I don't know what is going on, Kate. I just know what I see," he said.

"I don't understand this either. It seems like I have come out of my painting, and somehow I ended up here," said Mona Lisa.

"I don't know how to help you, yet, but we need to start by hiding you or something," Kate told her.

"I would appreciate it," said Mona Lisa. She paused. "There's just one thing you need to know."
