Art has many famous images. They stick in our minds and stay. We admire them without even knowing their story. We don't know why. Somehow they just capture our attention and interest.
Every year, more students are exposed to the talents of the masters. They are sometimes asked to recreate them in some shape and form.
This is what inspired me to write this story. Mona Lisa seems to have a lot of young fans who admire her beauty. When asked what she would be if real, they described her as a princess. It made me think. What would Mona Lisa be like if she were alive today? I came up with a lot of ideas. I looked a little further, with the help of research, and this story is based on how I feel Mona Lisa would be like if real. To help with the story, I have used some facts to help readers learn more about this famous painting as they read.
Fiction like this is hard to write. As an author, I want it to come alive, yet I know it isn't real. Paintings do not suddenly become real people. Yet, if they were, would they be like what we would first expect them to be?
I hope this book gives children and adults alike a chance to appreciate art more and learn more about a few of the artists of years past.
