Chapter 6 - Page 1 of 6

Draconis

My second stop was Draconis. I didn't know what to expect, it had been a double score of talon or more since I had ventured to these shores. Draconis was dangerous, for here the great Helatin, the Dragons of old still walked the land, and few who knew this escaped to the sea. But with flier tokens such as the ones I held, I could demand the services of two of their own.

The great black ships, covered in dragon scale, and manned by those who still carried dragon-steel arms, kept vigilant watch over us. One was never sure which side the dragons would come down on which was why you tempted fate at your own peril.

The dragons were still the best fighters on land or sea. As we came closer I readied myself, I took off my red sash, rewinding it around my waist, a sailor's pardon we called it, without it we were damned to walk forever after death. I girded myself with sword and dagger, and made sure my braid was showing that they knew I clamed the law of the sea.

"Master Ashore?" They had let us come almost to the very docks themselves before presenting arms.

"What captain? What boards that you run to us so rigged for war?"

I had started expecting a hostile greeting, with the shields lining the decks, an open sign of war. "Captain Leshawn of the Dragon Wynd, I come to speak at Handler's hall to claim a debt owed my kin."
