Easy Money Scam

Unfortunately, Bonnie's twelve-foot-wide, powder blue trailer had not magically turned into a mansion while she was away. Everything was in place and nothing had improved. The old man in the dilapidated shack across the street from the Sunrise Trailer Park still sat on his porch in an even more dilapidated wicker swing. It was still hotter than Hades, and the flies had mated and multiplied while she was gone. She parked her car on the little gravel pad beside the trailer-one of the perks provided by the management. Each tenant was allowed only one parking space, however, unless he or she wanted to pay another ten dollars a month. Once inside the stifling tin can, Bonnie sorted through Saturday's mail, which had been dropped through the slot in the door.

The weekend trip to Oregon was a total waste of time; now she was back to her mundane life-a life that, at least, was secure. She considered calling her daughter and telling her that, for once, she had not fallen victim to a scam; instead, she turned her attention to the bowling schedule that had arrived in the mail. Her team was in line to play every other night for the next two weeks. They were good, but the practice would make them better. She retrieved her purse from where she dropped it on the recliner by the front door and took out the ten thousand dollar check. The "benefactor's" name and address were printed in bold lettering in the upper left corner. No phone number or social security number was listed; not that she expected to see one. She did have enough to go on though, to stop Mr. Matthew Fox from victimizing someone else.
