Chapter 1

"Damn, I look good for my age", Charleen thought to herself as she stared at herself in the mirror. With a sly grin on her face, she winked at her image as she brushed her long thick hair. After raising four grown kids, and working over thirty years to put almost every child through college and pay off her mortgage, she was just as spry as she was when she was thirty-five. Hardly anyone believed she was almost seventy when she proudly confessed her age, and Charleen never hesitated to tell anyone how old she was when asked. She was proud to have lived so long and to have survived so much. Not every woman could brag they had survived raising four children basically alone, burying one husband and divorcing another one and still sometimes turn heads, especially when she had gotten a new dye job.

She wondered if she should sometimes take Mr. Jimmy up on his offer to go out sometimes. But she quickly dismissed the idea. She chuckled to herself, thinking she would probably give the old man a heart attack in bed. Besides, she thought to herself, she wasn't about to go through the stress of trying to train another man on how to be a good husband and then just end up kicking him out. She was too stuck in her ways to compromise and had too many years behind her to change anything about herself to suit somebody else. And after all these years she had finally gotten use to sleeping alone and she liked having the bed to her self.
