Chapter 1

I know what it is like to hit rock bottom and to wish there was someone who could help me to help myself. I spent years in therapy: over medicated, depressed, bombarded with suggestions about what I should do. I always had a spiritual streak and knew that, deep down, we all have our own answers and if we could just find them, we could do whatever we wanted (well, within legal and ethical boundaries). Now I realize that more and more people are embracing this concept. If we just have someone to guide us to those answers locked in our heart, we can conquer the world. I have had the benefit of several wise and caring people helping me to find out who I was, what I wanted and how to get there. Now I want to help you.

After reading literally hundreds of motivational books and gaining decades of life experience, I have reached a personal conclusion that each one of us has a primary life goal of finding out who we truly are, why we are on Earth at this particular time and what we are meant to do with our lives. I personally believe that we are somehow “programmed” with this information and that we cannot find peace unless and until we discover these answers lying within us. Life circumstances such as early trauma, health situations, cultural and economic influences and dysfunctional relationships can obstruct this discovery. Or, as I have found, they can be formative elements in our journey to finding our life paths. Through the struggles, and by making good choices, we can find our courage, become strong, and develop character.

During your journey through this workbook, you will travel back in time to your childhood self, that person who KNEW who you really are and BELIEVED that you can do anything you dream. You will “time travel” to meet and bring that person with you through the years into the present. This true “you” can help guide you into defining the future you really want, including advice in making the necessary choices to create your best life and your best self.
