Biography: Better known as an artist and textile designer, William Morris (1834-1896) was also a writer of poetry and novels. A member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the English Arts and Crafts Movement, Morris founded a design firm with fellow artists Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. His theories on the decorative arts had a widespread effect on architecture in the early 20th century. His fantasy romances include The Wood Beyond The Wood (1894) and The Well at World's End (1896).
