Biography: Waldron Baily was born in New York in 1871, but moved with his family to North Carolina, where he was later elected Mayor. He was a novelist known for his popular stories set in the Appalachian mountains. Many of his books were made into films, including Heart of the Blue Ridge and The Moonshiner.
