His parents were famous opera singers, and the family travelled extensively, leaving young Rafael in the care of his grandparents in Liverpool. An avid reader from a young age, Sabatini started writing romances around 1895, and quickly became a popular author. He became known internationally for Scaramouche (1921) and Captain Blood (1922). |
