| Biography: | Mrs. S.C. Hall was the pen name of Irish-born author Anna Maria Fielding. Known for her regional Irish stories, Hall wrote nonfiction like Sketches of Irish Life (1829), and fiction like The Buccaneer (1832). Collaborating with her husband, journalist Samuel Carter Hall, she co-wrote a 3-volume set called Ireland: Its Scenery and Character (1841-1843). Her work was unusual for the times in its open criticism of government entities and actions. |
