He hopes that readers will learn about God in a simple to understand, easy to read, storytelling approach. Johnson was raised in Indiana, fought as a combat veteran in the Marines during the Vietnam War and served 31 years as a police officer with a small city within central Indiana, retiring as the Chief of Police. Those that have been an inspiration to him are his parents, Robert and Hazel Johnson, his wife and family and Father Vincent Capodanno, who he met while serving in Vietnam. He and his wife, Vicki, live in Shelbyville, Indiana. They have four grown children and 10 grandchildren to whom his book Life with an Angel is dedicated.
