| Biography: | Popular British novelist Sir Max Pemberton (1863-1950) was a fashionable London clubman as well as a journalist and writer. Early work involved editing magazines such as Chums and Cassell's. He wrote a number of bestselling adventure and mystery novels in the 1890s, including his best-known, The Iron Pirate. A lifelong advocate of journalism, Pemberton founded the London School of Journalism in 1920. |
