Biography: Maurice Henry Hewlett (1861-1923) was an English novelist, poet, and essayist. Trained as a lawyer at London International College, he gave up the practice of law after the success of his romantic historical novel The Forest Lovers in 1898, followed by dozens more over his writing career. Literary friends included Evelyn Underhill, Ezra Pound, and J.M. Barrie.
