Biography: John Galsworthy OM (Order of Merit from the Commonwealth), the son of a wealthy English family, was trained as a lawyer but instead decided to concentrate on writing short stories, plays and novels. He is best known for the 3-volume Forsyte Saga and the sequels to the novel. In his novels he discussed current day topics such as the issues of the social classes, censorship, prison reform, women's rights and animal rights. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1932.
