| Biography: | Henry Stanton was a 19th century lawyer who was well known as a an orator and writer on social issues, specifically on the abolitionist movement. He wrote newspaper columns and many pamphlets on social issues and was a popular speaker. His political career included two terms in the Massachusetts Senate and one term in the New York Senate. He helped launch the Republican Party in 1855. He died unexpectedly of pneumonia in 1887. |
