| Biography: | Henry James (1843-1916) was born in New York but later lived in England and became a British subject. A prolific writer, he wrote over twenty novels, several short stories, and a wealth of correspondence. His family was wealthy, allowing James to travel widely across Europe. He briefly studied at Harvard Law School but quickly turned to literature. Among his many influential works are Daisy Miller (1879), The Portrait of a Lady (1881) and The Wings of the Dove (1902). Many of his novels have been made into films and remain popular today. |
