Biography: George Barr McCutcheon (1866-1928) was a popular American novelist and playwright who grew up in Indiana and studied at Purdue University. His series of novels featuring the fictional country of Graustark made him famous with their themes of court intrigue and high-drama romance. His work was very successful, and includes the comic fantasy Brewster's Millions, adapted to film nine times.
