Biography: Edmund Flagg was born in Wiscasset, Maine in 1815. He studied at Bowdoin and read law, being admitted to the bar in 1837. In addition to practicing law, he was editor of several law publications, worked as an official court reporter, and wrote as a journal correspondent. Although much of his work was political or legal in nature, he also contributed to a series of historical romances and wrote two sequels to The Count of Monte-Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.
