| Biography: | American author Caroline Cameron Lockhart was born in Eagle Point, Illinois in 1871. She grew up on the family ranch, and after college, tried her hand at acting. When acting didn't work out, she became a reporter and started to write short stories and novels that feature the culture of the Old West, with titles such as The Man From Bitter Roots (1915) and The Fighting Shepherdess (1919). Politically active, Lockhart spoke out on preservation issues in Wyoming and took a strong stand against Prohibition. |
